Commission on the 21st Century Economy
Michael Boskin, 63, of Portola Valley, is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and T.M. Friedman Professor of Economics at Stanford University since 1978. Additionally, he taught at Yale University from 1993 to 1994 and Harvard University from 1977 to 1978. Boskin has served on the Governorís Council of Economic Advisors since 2004 and as research associate for the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1975. He served as chairman of the Presidentís Council of Economic Advisors from 1989 to 1993 and served on the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Consumer Price Index from 1995 to 1996. Boskin has served as an advisor for the Joint Committee on Taxation for the U.S. Congress from 1995 to 1998, advisor for the Bureau of Economic Analysis since 2000 and advisor for the Congressional Budget Office since 2008 and from 1994 to 2003. He has also served as an advisor to presidents, prime ministries and central banks around the world. Boskin serves on the Exxon Mobil Corporation Board of Directors, Oracle Corporation Board of Directors and The Koret Foundation Board of Directors and has authored more than 150 books and articles. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Boskin is a Republican.
