Commission on the 21st Century Economy
George Halvorson has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals since 2002. Previously, he served as president and chief executive officer of HealthPartners and held several senior management positions with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. Halvorson has written several books on the U.S. healthcare system and has lectured in a number of settings including academics, policy-makers and health industry leaders. He serves on the America’s Health Insurance Plans Board and the Alliance of Community Health Plans Board. Halvorson is also the president of the International Federation of Health Plans Board of Directors and is a member of the Harvard Kennedy School of Healthcare Delivery Policy Group. He serves on the Institute of Medicine Task Force on Evidence Based Medicine and on the Commonwealth Fund Commission on a High Performance Health System.
