Commission on the 21st Century Economy
Fred Keeley has served as treasurer of Santa Cruz County since 2005 and also works as a political science professor at San Jose State University. From 1996 to 2002, he served as a California State Assemblymember where he also served as Speaker pro Tempore of the Assembly. Prior to that, Keeley was the executive director of the Planning and Conservation League and the PCL Foundation and served the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors. He served as chief of staff to Assemblymember Sam Farr (D-Carmel) and was a policy director for Santa Cruz County Supervisor Joe Cucchaira. He serves a co-chair of the Voices of Reform Project of the Commonwealth Club of California and is a member of the California League of Conservation Voters Board of Directors and Planned Parenthood Advocates for Northern California and Nevada. Keeley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University.
